Richard Coleman, known to most as Rick, is a lifelong resident of Coos County who grew up in the North part of the county. A proud 1986 graduate of North Bend High School, Rick answered the call to serve his country as a Diesel Mechanic in the United States Army.
After his military service, Rick returned home and built a career as a skilled tradesman. He currently serves as Shop Manager at Johnson’s Rock Products, a local contractor. His hands-on experience in heavy equipment, maintenance, and local industry gives him a practical understanding of the challenges facing working families, small businesses, and our natural resource-based economy.
Rick is a proud husband, father, and grandfather who believes deeply in conservative values, limited government, and common-sense solutions. He is running for Coos County Commissioner because he wants county government to work for the people — not the other way around.
In his recent interview with The World, Rick emphasized the importance of accessible, responsive local government in smaller communities like Coos County. He stressed practical priorities over politics and a commitment to listening directly to residents.
As one of two candidates for the open Position 3 seat (following Commissioner Rod Taylor’s decision not to seek reelection), Rick brings real-world experience and a no-nonsense approach to county leadership.
Reduce wasteful spending, keep property taxes low, and focus county resources on essential services that matter most to families and seniors.
Support our natural resource industries, improve roads and bridges, and reduce red tape so logging, fishing, construction, and tourism can thrive.
Back our law enforcement, protect parental rights in education, and defend the rural lifestyle that defines Coos County.
Promote responsible stewardship that supports family farms, timber, and our coastal economy without overreaching regulations.
